it seems that i may be getting my first ever art show. callooh, callay, hooray, huzzah and other such words.

regardless of whether all goes to plan or not, i am working on a new collection of pieces specifically for this. the title and theme of the show is 'SOS'.

the collection is curiously shaping up to be some of my darkest work yet. strangely really as this has come at a conflicting time when i was hoping to move my art 'towards the light side' so to speak, yet the personal side of things has taken a nose-dive into the gutter. i feel i can put a much more satisfying level of realism into my work than i used to when i was making grimmer things back in the day and this opens up a few nasty little possibilities.

'SOS' explores the nature of victims, the abused, the bullied, the forgotten, both the prey and the predator, past and present. in a pretentious manner of description, i am aiming for a futile distress signal recorded on a mobile phone and put on youtube where it plays in a disgusting infinite loop. this work is, in a very melodramatic manner of speaking, me, my insatiable victim complex, my contempt with the way the world is now, the friends that forgot me, the doctor that did not care, the systems that turned me into a statistic, what i see when i look out of the window in the morning, the frantic 999 call that the police don't answer. i am approaching this with the intent to disarm the viewer and make them walk a few moments in my boots to leave them with a bite of discomfort that will haunt them for days.
