the work has been so massively cathartic at a horrible time, i would express gratitude if it was an individual (which in some ways, i suppose it is). i'm seeing them all as something of a lot of tarot cards, figures with ambiguous fates being constantly shuffled to avoid the unavoidable. my attempt at a statement:
The precise motive behind the 'SOS' collection is irresolute, impossible to grasp, hiding in the blind spot in a corner of a dark room. On a good day it is about an optimistic cry for help, a provocative figure with a victim complex, an accusatory yet well-meaning guilt trip. On a bad day it is the admittance of defeat, a monstrosity removed from it's shell and put on display, the suffocation of intimacy and the severance of betrayal.
part of me does desperately want to describe the momentum behind each image but it doesn't seem appropriate. now, back to work...
